"The Certificate in Financial-Engineering (CFE) program by Risk Latte is a practical introduction to quantitative finance and financial engineering. It blends theory and practice in a hands-down approach by encouraging the participants to implement most of the models themselves during the course. Add a thriving online-community and passionate teachers, and you receive an education offering at a very attractive price/performance-ratio. Recommended!"
"I got my certification almost one year ago. My experience has been really good. Math knowledge requirements are affordable for the most, teaching material is among the best you can find and it has a clear focus on real life and actual implementation. Everything is done with Excel and VBA making it really easy for any user involved in financial markets. I don't give 5 stars just because there's a clear lack of learning path in online material making it difficult to adopt a self organized homework approach. In conclusion: this is exellent solution for highly motivated students in the field of financial engineering looking for a business oriented course (no time to waste on purely theoretical maths)"
"The CFE programme was very helpful to me in understanding complexities around real world quant finance challenges. The excel/VBA method of teaching was particularly helpful in understanding concepts around stochastic models, pricing structured products and Monte Carlo simulation. I am very grateful to the Risklatte team for their proactive approach."
"I first came across Risk Latte CFE when I worked at RBS in London in autumn 2009. I wanted to learn some more about pricing of exotic derivatives and Risk Latte CFE caught my attention with its interesting course agenda. My employer back then paid for the course for me but I can still echo all other guys in the class back then and we all agreed that the course is very competitively priced compared to the other options available. The course focuses on giving you understanding of pricing via practical modelling in Excel spreadsheets. And it is an amazing 'learning by doing' approach. For each pricing topic, you are given a solid spreadsheet implementation to start off with, but the amount you have to do yourself is still substantial. You are being asked to tweak the sheets this or that way, on each practical case / Excel sheet there is a lively discussion among people whether they came across this or that in their respective jobs…real 'hands on' and refreshing way of learning. The tutor of the class Mr. Rahul Bhattacharya was / is extremely knowledgeable and entertaining in the same time. There is a lot I learnt from him and we became good friends.Founding the company culture of Risk Latte very innovative, I have later started supporting Rahul and his team on his ongoing journey of bringing the Risk Latte to the next level and I encourage you all to have a look at how much fun you can have with Risk Latte these days, not only by enrolling into CFE."
"As someone who hires Quants, the CFE program really shows its value. It gets right to the point of risk and pricing, without the extraneous courses in many Masters programs. It is a good balance between theory and practice, as the exercises and models are done in Excel, where you can interact with the inputs and see their many effects. Highly recommended for self-starters looking to quickly gain skills in risk and pricing."
"I took the Risk Latte CFE course around five years ago when I was working at Markit. If you want to learn about pricing of exotic derivatives then this is a very good way to do it, and is very competitively priced compared to the other options available. The course focuses on giving you an intuitive understanding of pricing via practical modelling in Excel spreadsheets. Doing it this way allows you to understand how answers are dependent on inputs. You will in general, for each pricing topic,l be given a solid spreadsheet implementation to start off with, but the amount you have to do yourself is substantial enough to allow you to additionally learn by doing.Rahul Bhattacharya who led the course is extremely knowledgeable and an entertaining and clear communicator. If you are interested in Financial Engineering you will learn a lot from him."
"I am a CFE graduate and I originally took this course to hone my derivative product knowledge.I was pleasantly surprise with the course because after having taken graduate level courses at columbia university in options as well as purchasing a number of books and publications from amazon and taking company sponsored workshops that focus on derivatives , I’ve never found any sort of course work that was so practical as the CFE.The biggest surprise was the Excel Based Modelling and applying the advanced mathematics in two and translating it into Excel based application. So given the changing landscape of finance, what is needed going forward in derivatives is not the advanced mathematics but what’s the problem going forward is the translating of mathematics into excel and which is why the CFE is very important for anyone beginning their career in finance whether it’s sales, trading, investment, banking. The most value out of the CFE was learning how to apply the complicated mathematics into Excel based applications. We discuss theories in CFE which was very interesting but it was hard to conceptualise theory when you’re reading out of a book but when you have someone actually helping you out translate in excel step by step that’s where you get the most value added."
"I find CFE to be a very interesting program because it’s much more centred on practice than in theory and people have a lot more opportunity to apply their skills in reality with realistic spreadsheets models and things of that type and i think it’s really much more focussed to the needs of what a financial situation actually means of its structured finance partitioners whether they’re structures or traders or the salespeople that need to sell these products. The program is more focussed on practical point of view rather than the more theoretical aspects of quantitative finance. I find that CFE in a sense expresses personally much more active interest in quantitative finance and secondly evidence of practical work."
"I most enjoyed the practical applications, i.e. the pricing of various options and structured products using excel and vba. Don't expect a 'traditional' style teaching method; this is not a step-by-step theoretical course - of which there are plenty at universities, but a nice complement to it. You'll get plenty of practice implementing the theory though ... and seeing how the model reacts to changes in the input parameters. The final project work is particularly challenging, but rewarding."
"CFE program has not only honed my quant modelling skills but has also provided me the opportunity to network with many other professionals from different financial institutions."
"CFE School, Risk Latte Americas, is doing a wonderful job in providing high quality educational materials. They are awesome. Keep up the good work!"
